Role Responsibility
The Child Protection Chair Service is seeking a Child Protection Chair to join us. The role is diverse and complex, offering independent oversight and constructive challenge of practice for children most at risk. The role involves chairing Child Protection Conferences in the south-east of the county and may also include chairing complex Strategy Discussions. You will quality assure and drive practice forward; at times, this will require appropriately challenging practice with services.
Kent is progressing significant developments through the Families First Programme, strengthening how we work with children and families across the county. This is an important period of change and learning, and Child Protection Chairs will have a key role in supporting consistent, childfocused decisionmaking and strong multiagency practice as new ways of working are introduced.
You will be supported to expand your experience through quality assurance work, including audits, learning reviews and service improvement projects. The service is planning to move to the Lead Child Protection Practitioner (LCPP) model in April 2027 as part of Families First. While the detail of the model is still being developed, joining now means you can contribute to the preparation and transition activity and help shape what works well for children and families in Kent.
