This Is a hugely exciting opportunity to make a real difference to a design-led Edinburgh brand with sales of £2.5m. We are looking for an exceptional and collaborative leader with extensive experience in product/range development and sourcing who has a proven track record of delivering exceptional product ranges for a consumer brand. You will work alongside the MD as a trusted partner to shape the next phase of growth; leading on the delivery of strategic business aims and bringing a well-rounded blend of strategic vision, creative sensibility, commercial awareness, and operational precision.
Busy B is a well-loved stationery brand based in central Edinburgh. Founded 25 years ago, Busy B creates cleverly designed and stylish products that help busy women get beautifully organised and ready to enjoy life. Busy B sells directly via their website and Amazon, as well as through leading high street stores such as John Lewis and Waterstones.
With 5+ years of experience driving new product development and sourcing strategy, you will have a passion for product with commercial experience in abundance and thrive in a creative, talented, and friendly team.A growth mindset and positive, people focused leadership style is important in this role, along with demonstrated experience of identifying opportunities, improving processes, monitoring performance, and driving growth.

The Strategic Responsibilities:
* Conduct trend and market research to guide product direction.
* Define 1-year and 3-year product plans with clear milestones.
* Collaborate with Sales to align seasonal product strategy with market demand and pricing.
Product Development
* Partner with the design team on the creative direction of ranges.
* Ensure a continuous awareness of trends, consumer habits and the market.
* Manage range structure and introduce innovative products, incorporating insights from market research and consumer trends to shape the overall look, feel, and functionality of each seasonal collection.
* Provide detailed product specifications, oversee sampling, approvals, and quality assurance.
* Ensure products are not only well-designed but also commercially viable and align with brand identity.
* Develop sourcing strategies to support business goals.
* Identify and manage supplier relationships - evaluate suppliers for efficiency, compliance, and quality.
* Negotiate pricing/contracts ensuring a balanced and diverse supply base.
* Oversee product cost tracking and analysis of YOY costs.
* Responsibility for shipping and on time delivery of seasonal ranges from the far east.
Critical Path & Supply Chain
* Own the critical path and delivery schedule.
* Manage PO and invoice approvals, container planning, and supply chain issues.
* Continuous development of processes to ensure efficiency.
* Lead and support product and design teams.
* Align team capabilities with project needs; manage freelance resourcing.
* Support brand consistency and provide product materials across teams.
Brand & Compliance
* Safeguard brand integrity across products.
* Ensure product compliance for safety and quality eg FSC.

Experience
* 5+ years in a similar product development or sourcing leadership role within consumer goods, ideally in stationery, gifting, home, or lifestyle sectors.
* Proven experience launching successful products to market, from ideation through to delivery.
* Hands-on experience sourcing and managing overseas suppliers and managing shipping logistics.
* Proficient in NetSuite and Excel; comfortable managing data, costs, and forecasts.
* Familiar with quality, safety, and ethical sourcing standards such as FSC, SEDEX, GPSR.
