The building contractor takes on projects of varied nature, covering every Market Sector. The building contractor has always been known to have an excellent reputation, focusing on the delivery of large construction projects.
The Candidate
The candidate we are looking for is someone who can prove longevity experience working as a Logistics Manager across varied sectors. The candidate would have ultimate responsibility for managing the logistics on site, reporting back to the Site Manager & Project Manager.
Typical Duties
* Managing deliveries using our Smartsheet system.
* Manage the crane and hoist booking using our Smartsheet system.
* Deliveries to be checked off in line with paperwork/delivery dockets to ensure all materials have been delivered/no damage, etc. Dockets to be brought to BCL office every evening for review.
* Ensure delivery driver inductions are completed and drivers are complying (e.g. handrails on trucks, PPE being worn, etc).
* Ensure all deliveries are unloaded with Hi‑AB chains etc, have all the applicable certificates for Hi‑AB, lifting equipment etc.
* Monitoring block/brick on site and highlighting if stocks are low or if there are too many on site.
* Contractors allocated laydown areas to be monitored and deliveries refused if materials are not being moved within 2‑3 days.
* Supervising traffic marshalls, forklift driver and working alongside the crane team led by the crane supervisor. Keeping track of hours/breaks and signing off timesheets.
* Ensuring all plant (i.e. forklifts, hoists etc) are being maintained, in service, checks being completed and recorded.
* Ensuring with the help of the crane supervisor that all lifting equipment is in date, no damage, etc.
* Preplanning with scaffolding supervisor/crane supervisor to ensure deliveries are being unloaded with the crane every morning to where materials are needed.
* Preplanning window/pod deliveries with crane supervisor to ensure Canti Deck is in place etc.
* Managing all logistics on site including walkways/access points etc and reprimanding non‑compliance.
* Managing bins, skips, compactor collections, liaising directly with the waste management company.
* Attending daily briefings with all BCL managers and contractor supervisors, planning works/logistics for the following day/week.
* Taking instruction from our project/site managers, H&S officer etc, and working as a team.
* Ensuring BCL materials, temporary electrics, tools etc are looked after/maintained and replenished if necessary.
* Completing weekly meter readings, bund checks etc and ensuring these are recorded.
* Loading out Saturdays, preplanning with all contractor supervisors/crane team.
Requirements
* Proven longevity with previous employers.
* CSCS / SMSTS / First Aid certification.
* Strong communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills.
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
