Location: London (Hybrid)
Salary: £40,000 - 45,000 (DOE) / up to £60k OTE
The Role
As our first in-house BDE you will take the lead in implementing and driving forward a new business plan that results in significant and consistent growth for the Agency, across Global markets and eventually catering for the needs of both London and New York offices.
At first reporting into the UK Managing Director, you will primarily be responsible for two immediate focuses; proactively managing the existing and extensive pipeline to ensure the nurture strategy is implemented consistently and successfully and securing meetings with new leads across the Agency for the Senior Team to convert.
You will be responsible for working closely with PR, Client Service, Strategy and Creative teams to get under the skin of our offering, disciplines and ways of working. Whilst you won’t input significantly into the creation of new business campaigns (events, webinars, content, thought pieces), you will be expected to understand them and be able to confidently sell these to prospects, fully understanding how these begin to offer solutions to the challenges and opportunities our clients face.
You will be comfortable and experienced working in a fast growth environment and able to handle the pressure and expectation of meeting targets monthly, keeping the MD and internal teams fully updated on progress at all times.
What you’ll do
Hit your targets - Starting with the obvious. These will be realistic but challenging and key to both the Agency and you realising your potential. A great opportunity to push yourself and those around you to greater success
Master the pipeline - Recognise that the first contact, the submission of an RFP or a pitch will often be the start of a process that can take up 3-12 months to convert. Develop and implement strategies (and contact) that takes into account the nuances and timing of each, unique relationship, helping us shorten the average sales cycle
Immerse yourself - Bring a constantly curious approach to the role. Fully get under the skin of who we are, why we exist, and what challenges we solve for our clients and why
Build knowledge - Whilst you won’t be responsible for the content the Agency creates and uses to engage prospects with, you will need to ensure you understand why it has been created and what challenge or opportunity it is helping the Agency address
Collaborate always - Form strong and trusting relationships with your Line Manager(s), and Management Team (consisting of Heads of Department), working together to achieve our targets
Take ownership - Once created, fully own the new business plan. Be responsible for all deadlines, actions and communication needed to achieve this
Be relentless (and sometimes annoying) - Your deadlines and targets will in part rely on your colleagues hitting theirs. Be comfortable with holding people to account, ensuring the plan remains on track at all times
What you need to have
Proven experience - 2-3 years in a Business Development role, either at a comparable Agency or a bespoke new business development Agency. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in both UK & US markets, but this experience isn’t essential
Results - A track record of success and the clarity to communicate this as part of the interview process
CRM skills - Proficient skills and experience working with Salesloft, HubSpot or similar CRM tool
Killer communication - The ability to clearly, confidently, and effectively communicate with a broad level of seniority both at the Agency and amongst our new business targets
An opinion - We are a passionate and opinionated team which is one of the reasons clients love working with us. We’ll need yours to drive our first internally led new business and outreach effort
Tenacity & perseverance - As I’m sure you can relate to, sales and new business can be both exhilarating and frustrating in equal measure. You’ll need to possess the ability to stay on track with the plan even at times when it might not be moving as quickly as you/we would like
Proactive attitude - A self-starter who brings energy, initiative, and a solution-focused mindset to their work
Highly organised - Able to manage multiple campaigns and an ever changing and evolving pipeline
Team spirit - A collaborative approach with a willingness to roll up your sleeves, support others, and help contribute to the positive Agency culture we are building
