Technology, Media and Cyber: Underwriting Reports To: Class Manager Position Summary We are looking for an Underwriter to join our London team and will be working with the Class manager and other member of the team to underwrite and support our Technology, Media and Cyber Portfolio of business with multinational exposures. Works within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. Utilises underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations while creating opportunities to grow the portfolio and renew existing risks. Key Responsibilities We are seeking a candidate who will be responsible for reviewing renewal applications and new business opportunities from a selection of London brokers. Evaluate New Business opportunities for Technology Professionals, Media Organisations and their associated Cyber exposures Determines acceptability of risk in accordance with our underwriting guidelines and strategies. Evaluate an organisation’s cybersecurity posture, including network architecture, data storage practices, incident response planning, security controls, and employee training Analyse factors such as technology segment, digital footprint, threat environment, past incidents (breaches, ransomware), and regulatory exposure. Use technology‑driven tools such as external vulnerability scans, third‑party cyber risk ratings, and automated assessment platforms. Recommends appropriate pricing and coverage modifications or enhancements for risks after complete analysis and consideration of applicant documentation, business factors and competitive situations. Prepares quotations and answers questions from Brokers, internal and external contacts and escalates issues as necessary. Prepares written communications on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations. Where appropriate, verbally notifies Brokers of decisions in order to ensure clear understanding of the decision. Analyses quality, quantity, and profitability of risks underwritten and prepares reports for management review. Assist in marketing products and services through the brokerage community and make field visits. Develop and maintain positive Broker relationships. Maintains current knowledge on state/territory issues, regulations and trends. Work with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling. Develop proficiency in all relevant CNA systems. May update the underwriting systems. May perform additional duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices. Has existing knowledge and technical expertise including negotiation skills in relation to underwriting Technology E&O, Media and Cyber exposures. Can demonstrate knowledge of the products and market wordings that are utilised in this line of business. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with peer level CNA internal and external business partners. Ability to work independently. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound business decisions effectively. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
