Board Member
Location: Midlands (Hybrid – Birmingham/Worcester with virtual meetings)
Remuneration: £14,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses
Time Commitment: Approx. 3 days per month
Platform Housing Group is seeking a new Board Member to join its governing body at an exciting time for the organisation and the wider social housing sector.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction, governance and long-term sustainability of one of the UK’s largest housing associations, supporting the delivery of high-quality homes and services to over 120,000 customers across the Midlands.

The Role
As a Board Member, you will play a key role in shaping strategy, overseeing performance, and ensuring effective governance. You will work collaboratively with fellow Board members and the Executive to support informed decision-making and long-term organisational success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing strategic oversight and contributing to corporate decision-making
* Ensuring strong governance, risk management and regulatory compliance
* Scrutinising performance and financial information to support delivery of objectives
* Offering constructive challenge and support to the Executive team
* Representing Platform externally and upholding its values and reputation
* Serving on Board Committees as part of governance responsibilities
About You
We are seeking individuals who can bring strong strategic thinking, sound judgement and a commitment to social purpose.
You will bring:
* Board or Committee-level experience, with the ability to contribute effectively to governance, strategy and decision-making. Experience within the housing sector is highly desirable, particularly within larger or more complex organisations, though we will also consider candidates from other regulated environments
* A strong understanding of governance and working within regulated settings, with the confidence to provide constructive challenge
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
* Experience operating within complex, asset-based or regulated organisations, where financial sustainability and risk management are key.
In addition, we welcome candidates who can offer insight or expertise in areas such as:
* Asset management
* Sustainability
* Customer Services
Time Commitment & Location
The role requires approximately 3 days per month. Board meetings are typically held in person in Birmingham or Worcester, with Committee meetings generally held virtually. All Board members are expected to sit on two Committees.
Remuneration
£14,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses.
