A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Therapeutic Radiographer to join the Treatment Team as a Band 6 Senior Therapy Radiographer within the Radiotherapy Department at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This post is offered as a 6 month secondment in the first instance.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable individual who can integrate quickly into a busy, supportive team. The successful candidate will develop their clinical expertise across treatment and pre-treatment pathways and will be expected to participate in the emergency on-call rota.
We actively support professional development, including radiographer-led research, service improvement and quality improvement initiatives. The Trust offers established leadership development programmes and supports flexible working, in line with service needs. The post holder will be required to work across sites and contribute to extended service hours.
The service operates across Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital and delivers a comprehensive range of advanced techniques including SRS, SABR, TBI and TLNI.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide high quality, effective individualised treatment and care to all patients
2. To carry out all practical aspects involved in preparation of radiotherapy treatments
3. To provide supervision of radiographers, student radiographers and helpers within allocated work area
4. To deputise for Macmillan Team Leader on the treatment unit as required

Essential criteria
5. Demonstrable post HCPC registration experience.
6. Experience of electronic patient management systems, and treatment and image verification systems
7. Sound knowledge of variety of complex treatment techniques
8. Experience in radiotherapy imaging techniques
Desirable criteria
9. Previous acting-up experience
Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
10. DCR(T) or BSc in Therapeutic Radiography (or equivalent)
11. Registered with HCPC as a Therapeutic Radiographer
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
12. Knowledge and understanding of standard and non-standard complex and conformal techniques
13. Understanding of IR(ME)R and its application
14. Experience in communicating with distressed or anxious patients/relatives
15. Able to act as mentor, supervisor and assessor for student radiographers
16. Knowledge of current professional issues
17. Understands the risks associated with radiation and the optimisation of patients treatments
