Young Person & Families Support Assts (Pathways Programmes)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a temporary Young Person and Family Support Assistant to support the delivery of our successful Pathways Programme for young people in North Lanarkshire secondary schools.
The Pathways Programme, led by Education and Families and supported by all council services delivers a bespoke and personalised curriculum aligned to labour market information which includes the development of skills for life and work, enables vocational pathways and facilitate participation in extended work-related learning experiences.
Working as a member of the Pathways team and in partnership with other agencies, you will have a key role in a range of activities including providing advice, information, groupwork delivery and support and practical assistance to young people and their families to support them to reach their full potential and achieve positive sustained post-school destinations.
You should have moderate experience of working with vulnerable young people and their families/carers as well as effective engagement and communication skills. Educated to SVQ Level 3 in Social Care / HNC in Social Care or equivalent in a relevant discipline is essential as is the ability to work well within a team framework and to specific directions and deadlines. In addition, you will be confident, enthusiastic, solution focused and compassionate with a commitment and determination to work with young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes and sustainable post-school destinations.
A valid driving licence and ability to travel across North Lanarkshire is essential as is a satisfactory Disclosure Scotland PVG check.
This work will support the delivery of our five corporate priorities and is informed by ‘We ASPIRE – A Shared Ambition for North Lanarkshire’ and national publications ‘Education Working for All! Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce’ and ’15-24 Learner Journey Review’.
