The Site Development & Facilities Lead will play a key role in overseeing the development, improvement and long-term management of WATIF’s buildings and facilities. The postholder will take responsibility for progressing projects that bring buildings and spaces into active community use, managing work from planning through to completion and ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose.
Working closely with staff, contractors, trustees and external partners, the postholder will help shape the future development of WATIF’s sites and support the organisation’s wider vision for community benefit.
You will take a leading role in transforming spaces into valuable community assets, helping turn ideas and plans into practical, usable facilities that support local people and future opportunities. The role combines strategic planning with practical delivery.
This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys problem‑solving, project management and seeing projects move from concept to reality.
Key Responsibilities
Site Development and Project Management
* Lead and coordinate building development and improvement projects.
* Support projects from initial planning and feasibility through to delivery and completion.
* Coordinate contractors, consultants and external suppliers.
* Monitor project timescales, budgets and progress against agreed objectives.
* Identify and manage risks relating to projects and site developments.
* Support funding requirements through providing information, updates and evidence of project progress.
Facilities Management
* Oversee the day‑to‑day management and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
* Develop and implement planned maintenance schedules.
* Ensure buildings and outdoor spaces remain safe, functional and fit for purpose.
* Coordinate repairs, maintenance works and facilities improvements.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability and use of facilities.
Compliance and Health & Safety
* Ensure facilities operate in line with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
* Maintain records relating to inspections, servicing and compliance requirements.
* Monitor health and safety requirements across sites.
* Ensure statutory checks and certifications are maintained and up to date.
* Support risk assessments and implementation of safe working practices.
Partnership and Stakeholder Working
* Develop positive relationships with contractors, suppliers and partner organisations.
* Work closely with staff and trustees regarding development priorities.
* Engage with volunteers and community users regarding site improvements.
* Represent WATIF at meetings where appropriate.
Monitoring and Administration
* Maintain accurate project and facilities records.
* Monitor budgets and expenditure related to buildings and site development.
* Prepare reports and updates for management, trustees and funders.
* Support procurement processes where required.
General Responsibilities

Person Specification
* Experience of managing projects from planning through to completion.
* Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers or external stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Problem‑solving ability and practical decision‑making skills.
* Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within buildings or facilities.
* Experience of facilities, property, estates or asset management.
* Experience within the voluntary or community sector.
* Knowledge of procurement processes.
* Experience managing budgets.
* Understanding of compliance requirements relating to buildings and facilities.
* Driving licence and access to transport.
