An exciting opportunityhas arisen for a nurse to join our dedicated and highly motivated team ofSpecial School Nurses/Assistant Practitioners in Surrey. This post is based at Brooklands school forpupils aged 2-11years old who have severe learning disability with additional healthneeds.
We ask for a Children's, Adult or Learning disability Nurse with aminimum of 3 years post registration clinical experience working with childrenyoung people with additional health needs.
Your role will focus on ensuring pupils have access to the school day regardless of the complexity of their needs within this setting.
You will lead a small nursing team, managing the day to day nursing care to support the children and their families. You will lead on delivering our competency based training programs to education staff who support pupils with nursing interventions in the classroom. There is partnership agency working across health, education and social care including outreach to other local LDschools to achieve better health outcomes for children and young people.

Thepost holder will
Lead a small based special school nursing team within the schooland responsible for registered nurse and assistant practitioner.
Respond and lead on medical emergencies.
Oversee a range of nursing assessments.
Oversee Care planning.
Train educational staff in nursing procedures includinggastrostomy and tracheostomy care using evidenced based competencies.
Oversee Medication management within the school
Lead on health related Child Protection concerns in partnershipwith the school and social care.
Contribute to EHCP and multi-agency meetings.
Mentor pre-registration nursing students
Support SSN team with nurse led and assistant practitioner ledclinics.
Outreach to LD local school

Accountable to Clinical Team Lead and Head of Specialist Community Children's Service Surrey.
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the provision of health care for children and young people, aged 2-11 years, with severe/profound and multiple learning and physical difficulties.
This will be achieved by providing expert training, advice and support to the school staff and other people involved in their care.

17. RN(Adult),RN(Child)or RSCN, RN (LD) with specific childrens experience and learning disability experience.
Desirable
18. Mentorship qualification.
19. Management/leadership qualification.
20. Post graduate nursing modules such as Physical Assessment of the Child.
