The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) at the University of York is recruiting a motivated Grade 6 Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis. CRD is an academic research department ( https://www.york.ac.uk/crd ) that specialises in and is at the forefront of evidence synthesis and health technology assessment, achieving a top ten place in REF21. Our systematic reviews and other evidence synthesis projects span a broad range of health and public health areas. They provide best evidence to inform policy and practice decisions and are underpinned by a programme of methodological development and commitment to knowledge exchange. The successful applicant will contribute to research activities across CRD research programmes. This may include working on NIHR Evidence Synthesis Group projects and those commissioned under our NIHR Policy Reviews Facility, to provide policymakers with research evidence and facilitate its use in their decision-making. It may also include health technology assessment (HTA) projects commissioned under our NIHR Technology Assessment Reviews (TAR) programme, which inform National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) decisions about which new drugs and technologies are approved for use in the NHS. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to developing methods and to funding applications. Required skills, experience & qualification Applications are welcome from candidates with a Masters level qualification in a health science, social science or applied statistical subject and a relevant PhD, or exceptionally from those with considerable highly relevant research experience in the field of evidence synthesis. Candidates should have strong research skills, experience of conducting systematic reviews and other evidence syntheses in health or care topics, and a good understanding of health-related research. They must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and to engage with stakeholders. Excellent communication skills are essential to the role. Familiarity with the UK health systems and with the UK research funding landscape would be an advantage. This is a full-time position, but we will also consider applicants who wish to work part-time provided that this is at least 60% of a whole time equivalent (e.g. 3 days per week).
