We are seeking to recruit an administrator to work within our busy Audiology Department in Boscombe, Bournemouth. This part-time role is not eligible for candidates requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK.
The Audiology service aims to reduce disability due to deafness. This administrative role supports the specialised needs of Audiology patients, including:
1. Initial triage of hearing aids and ear moulds requiring repair, either on reception or via phone/email
2. Booking patient appointments based on individual needs
3. Assessing new hearing aids and ear moulds upon receipt to ensure accurate prescription
4. Inputting data related to referrals, appointments, clinic attendances, DNAs, and patient pathways to meet the 18-week referral target
5. Dealing with patients and contacts in a friendly, professional manner to ensure a positive experience
This role requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants subscribed to the DBS update service can present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
The main function of the Audiology Service is to provide NHS hearing aid services across East Dorset. We seek someone with excellent organisational skills to join our friendly admin team.
Responsibilities include managing telephone queries, arranging appointments, working on reception, handling correspondence, data entry, and problem solving. Supporting the clinical team to run their clinics effectively is also key.
Applicants must have competent IT and administrative skills, the ability to manage a busy workload, and work calmly under pressure. Clear, sympathetic communication with hearing-impaired individuals is essential.
You should be highly organised, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to delivering a customer-focused service. The department is busy, requiring effective management of multiple work streams.
