We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the School of Computer Science Research Systems Team. You will be part of the IT support team providing, managing, and supporting IT services for staff, researchers and students, particularly those working with robotics. The Team is the primary IT support contact for research and development projects in the School, and the Senior Technician is responsible for supporting devices, experiments and teaching taking place in the Cobot Maker Space and other parts of the School. The team is also responsible for supporting other devices including VR/AR equipment and Internet of Things devices. Knowledge or experience in these areas is desirable but not essential.
The available post is based in the School of Computer Science, on Jubilee Campus.
You will:
1. Be first line of support for fault finding and diagnosis of hardware/software issues.
2. Support colleagues and students in conducting robotics research and teaching.
3. Be responsible for routine maintenance and calibration of robotics research and teaching devices.
4. Support exhibitions of the School’s robotics work at events onsite and occasionally at external venues.
5. Supporting engagement activities with both industrial and educational partners.
And you will bring:
6. Demonstrable experience of providing IT technical support within a wide-ranging and varied environment.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently to resolve technical queries.
9. Provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.

The post is offered on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week).
