About The Role
Hippo is recruiting Lead Python Developers to join our Hippo Herd. Lead Python Developers work in multi-disciplinary teams that build, support & maintain user-centered digital solutions that offer real value and work for everyone.
Hippo's Lead Python Developers are experts in their field. You will act as a lead consultant providing technical expertise in software engineering practices both internally and to our clients. You will be a leader of people and teams, managing projects, driving the team's technical deliverables, maintaining client relationships, and passionate about developing and upskilling others.
Your Role In Nutshell
* Act as a technical SME within the squad to produce and ensure user-centered software is developed based on business requirements and following best practices.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to explore, design, and deliver solutions to client problems.
* Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks before they occur.
* Continuously review and prioritize the delivery team's workload and anticipate the need for realignment with evolving operational priorities and complex workstreams.
* Be a strong communicator and presenter, presenting prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal/external stakeholders clearly and concisely.
* Build great relationships with your team and stakeholders, ensuring challenges are overcome.
* Involved in the recruitment, onboarding, and line management of other engineers, supporting their professional development.
* Promote Hippo's Engineering Herd externally through writing blogs, conducting workshops, seminars, or conferences.
About The Candidate
* Expertise in Python Engineering.
* Expertise in AWS Serverless, including tools & technologies such as Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Eventbridge, Cloudwatch, and CloudFormation.
* Experience leading a delivery team to deliver high-quality, robust solutions.
* Proven coaching and guiding skills to achieve optimal solutions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate in both technical and non-technical terms.
* Experience with the full development lifecycle delivering user-centered digital solutions.
* Full-stack experience with HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
* Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Node, React, Angular is preferable.
* Containerization experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar.
* Experience designing and architecting microservices.
* Experience with RESTful API services.
* Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and TDD.
* Skilled in designing and building native and web applications across various scales and platforms.
* Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or ARM.
* Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps, and Atlassian.
* Previous experience working on GOV/NHS projects is highly desirable.
