Role: Waste Management Driver C
Location: Environmental Services Depot
Hours: 37 hours per week (4 out of 7 working days)
Pay Rate: £14.13 (£16.74 including allowance)
Job Purpose
To support the delivery of Waste Resource Management, Street Cleansing and Recycling Services in line with Council standards, policies and health & safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete daily and weekly operational tasks to agreed standards and timescales.
* Carry out waste, recycling and street cleansing duties including refuse collection, litter picking, sweeping and emptying bins.
* Operate, clean and carry out routine checks on vehicles, sweepers and equipment, reporting any faults or defects promptly.
* Ensure compliance with traffic regulations, Council procedures and health & safety requirements.
* Supervise and support crew members where required and maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
* Assist with bulky waste collections, fly-tipping removal, recycling centre duties and emergency cleansing works.
* Support winter maintenance operations including gritting and snow clearance when required.
* Deliver high standards of customer service and communicate effectively with managers, colleagues and members of the public.
* Assist with delivery of Council communications, stores items and other operational duties as directed.
* Attend relevant training and contribute to achieving team performance targets and service objectives.
* Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post, including working across other Council service areas when required.

Qualifications
* Valid Category C+E driving licence
* Full CPC Licence / Driver Qualification Card
Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience operating with a Category C licence
* Minimum 2 years’ experience within a waste management environment
Key Skills & Abilities
o Strong organisational and time management skills
o Ability to work with minimal supervision
o Basic IT skills, including use of systems such as TMS/GPS
Special Knowledge
o Working knowledge of health & safety procedures, including manual handling and use of reversing assistants
o Knowledge of waste collection, disposal and recycling processes
o Understanding of traffic management requirements
