ABOUT THE WORTHGATE SCHOOL
The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13+ from all over the world. Students study for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere. We pride ourselves on our approach to teaching and learning, with small class sizes and an informal atmosphere ensuring that students are treated as individuals and build great relationships with staff.

JOB OVERVIEW
FOR SPRING 2026
Are you looking for a teaching role where you can devote time to educating international students with the highest aspirations? Our student body is diverse, inspiring, and ever-growing. Consequently, an exciting opportunity has arisen to teach Humanities, including Sociology, within the Humanities Department at the Worthgate School. The Humanities Department offers a broad range of subjects across a variety of programmes of study: GCSE, PRE, A-level, IB Diploma and University Foundation programmes. Subject disciplines include History, Geography, Environmental Systems and Societies, Psychology, Sociology, Global Politics, and International Relations.

As a teacher, this is a fantastic and truly unique environment in which to work. Class sizes are small, and students are highly motivated to learn and ultimately progress to excellent universities. Applicants who particularly relish teaching at A-level standard will therefore find the Worthgate School a hugely enjoyable and fulfilling place to work. The Humanities disciplines are very popular with our students, many of whom go on to apply for related university courses both nationally and internationally. Consequently, we are not only seeking a teacher who can harness the international context of our classrooms and foster an inclusive environment for dialogue and academic development, but also someone who can drive engaging co-curricular opportunities for students and staff.
We expect teachers to be involved in our super-curricular activities, known as ‘Electives’, where current offerings include Model United Nations (MUN), EPQ, and Philosophy and Psychology Societies.

Applicants should also demonstrate a strong commitment to their professional development. Worthgate offers excellent, fully funded opportunities for successful applicants to undertake NPQ qualifications (Leading Teacher Development, Senior Leadership, NPQ SENCO) in partnership with UCL, with multiple teachers enrolling each year. As part of the wider CATS Global Schools group, the academic team also benefits from cross-school collaboration and events, and staff are encouraged to develop and contribute to these professional networks.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
For the spring term, we are looking for a person who has:
Subject specialism in either History or Sociology, with a degree in a related discipline;
A critical understanding of developments in the relevant subject and curriculum areas;
Enthusiasm to identify and embrace extra- and co-curricular opportunities to enrich the student experience;
An ability to promote high standards of literacy and articulacy in the English language;
Responsive teaching strategies that incorporate high-quality feedback and a strong focus on literacy;
A proven record of excellent, reflective, and inspiring classroom practice;
Interest in, and knowledge of, national and international current affairs related to the Humanities disciplines;
A commitment to ensuring students benefit from an enriched, holistic boarding school experience.

This role would be suitable for experienced teachers, although applications from ambitious early-career professionals are warmly welcomed and will be considered.

We reserve the right to process any applications as they are received, and therefore interviews may be scheduled earlier than the above date. For more information, please contact our Assistant Principal Academic, Rebecca Champion rchampion@worthgateschool.com
