1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 8 Pupil (Dorchester Area) Full-time, Term Time Only (08:15 – 15:15) Location: Dorchester Start Date: ASAP or 3 rd November TP Tutors are seeking a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 8 pupil in a middle school setting within the Dorchester area. This is a full-time, term-time position (08:15 – 15:15), working on a one-to-one basis to provide consistent academic, emotional, and social support. This position is confirmed until end of the academic year. The pupil is a kind and well-mannered young person with diagnoses of ASC, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Sensory Processing Disorder. There are no behavioural concerns; they simply benefit from calm, structured support to help them engage confidently with the curriculum. About the Role You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure the pupil can access the curriculum and develop confidence in both learning and social settings. This role will suit someone patient, empathetic, and skilled at adapting communication to meet individual needs. The pupil is engaging and eager to learn but benefits from clear boundaries, reassurance, and time to process information. Your role will involve building a trusting relationship and supporting them through their daily routines in a calm and predictable environment. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 in-class and pastoral support to help the pupil access learning. Use short, clear, and positive language to aid comprehension and engagement. Allow processing time and use gentle clarification to check understanding. Support emotional regulation through calm, fair, and consistent interactions. Help the pupil prepare for transitions or changes using visual prompts or timers. Encourage independence and confidence in learning and social settings. About You We are looking for someone who is: Calm, patient, and able to build strong, positive relationships. Experienced in supporting young people with SEN (desirable). Skilled in using structure, visuals, and routines to support learning. Compassionate, resilient, and able to remain composed under pressure.
