Overview
Position Summary: The Agricultural Relations Director plays a leadership role in shaping agricultural policy across the region to ensure that regulatory and governmental frameworks support the safe and effective use of crop inputs. This role builds strong relationships with scientists, regulators, influencers, and agricultural producers to communicate unified, fact-based messages to policymakers. The Director coordinates efforts across trade associations, legal and scientific experts, and internal Gowan teams to align messaging, strategy, and outreach.
Location: LATAM - Mexico City, Mexico, São Paulo, Brasil, or Bogotá, Colombia

Role Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with scientists, regulators, influencers, and agricultural producers to facilitate effective communication and policy alignment.
* Lead or coordinate with allies to develop and deliver a clear, unified message to policymakers that supports agriculture.
* Represent Gowan in key trade associations and ensure consistent, aligned messaging across stakeholders.
* Analyze legal and scientific positions affecting agriculture; collaborate with internal and allied legal and science experts to ensure shared understanding of threats, opportunities, and strategies.
* Partner closely with internal teams—including science, commercial, development, marketing, and communications—to develop strategy, key messages, and performance monitoring for outreach effectiveness.
* Engage directly with government officials to communicate Gowan’s unified agricultural policy positions.
* Connect lawmakers and regulators to agricultural producers to foster understanding of modern farming practices.
* Define and profile key stakeholders; map influence networks and identify audience needs and relationships.
* Create messages that meet communication objectives and resonate with target audiences; establish KPIs to measure message effectiveness.
* Coordinate with the Global Communications team to adapt key messages for different audiences and contexts.
* Facilitate Gowan’s participation in local and regional forums to disseminate messages and strengthen relationships.
* Map and coordinate the management of key audiences and relationships across the region.
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Political Science, Communications, or related field.
* Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
Experience / Skills / Abilities
* Strong understanding of agricultural issues in Latin America and the factors shaping its future.
* Experience in crop protection and knowledge of regulatory processes in Mexico and other key Latin American countries.
* Well-connected with key stakeholders in agricultural regulation and policy.
* Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to clearly communicate in writing and verbally to diverse stakeholders.
* Skilled in building coalitions, developing strategic messages, and influencing policy outcomes.
