About the role

SEND Teaching Assistant – Coleford– Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced Special Needs School in the Coleford area. This setting supports pupils aged 3 to 19 with a wide range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Supporting children and young people with learning and physical disabilities in both 1:1 and small group settings

2. Assisting with personal care, feeding, and moving & handling, including using hoists and specialist equipment

3. Helping to deliver engaging lessons tailored to each student's individual learning plan

4. Promoting emotional wellbeing and social interaction, while encouraging independence

5. Adapting calmly and positively to changes in routine or behaviour

6. Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and staff

What We’re Looking For:

12. Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)

13. Friendly, flexible, and patient personality

14. Understanding of or interest in ASD, SLD, PMLD

15. Confident assisting with personal care and physical support

16. Strong communication skills and a team player attitude

17. Own transport preferred due to school location

18. Willingness to undertake Moving & Handling and other relevant CPD training

19. A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs succeed

Salary

£445-£470 per week

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

20. Have a desire to work with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
