About the Role:
As an Industrial Engineer – Battery Assembly, you will play a critical leadership role in optimizing Li-Ion battery manufacturing operations. You will lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers while driving Lean manufacturing initiatives, productivity improvements, ergonomics optimization, automation opportunities, and cost reduction programs. This is a fully onsite in Wolverhampton, UK.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers within the Li-Ion Battery Assembly area.
* Drive Lean process planning, waste elimination (MUDA/MURI), and cost-reduction initiatives to improve competitiveness.
* Perform Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to assess current operations and design future-state processes.
* Conduct ergonomic studies to eliminate occupational hazards and improve workforce productivity.
* Lead process improvements, including Poka-Yoke implementation, cycle time optimization, and rework reduction.
* Identify opportunities in labor productivity, automation, standardization, and lead-time reduction.
* Perform time studies using PMTS tools (MOST / MTM / MODAPTS) and execute multi-model line balancing.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer quality, safety, and delivery timelines.
* Translate customer and stakeholder inputs into effective manufacturing process changes.
* Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and capacity planning for new product introductions and process enhancements.
* Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
* Optimize utilization of equipment, tools, and technologies to enhance production capability.
* Provide hands-on technical support to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks and operational issues.
* Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Design efficient workstations, layouts, and material flow paths using 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD).
Preferred Skills & Experience:
* Strong hands-on experience with Li-Ion Battery Assembly lines.
* Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
* Solid understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, standards, and quality systems.
* Expertise in time study methodologies, OEE calculation, MUDA/MURI analysis.
* Strong knowledge of Lean principles, capacity planning, takt & cycle time calculations, and line balancing.
* Experience working with SOPs, SOS, PFMEA, and control plans.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD / CATIA / Pro-E and manufacturing engineering tools.
* Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on productivity and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications & Education:
* B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
