Job Title: Programme Technical Manager (Water/Wastewater)Location: Thames Water Region (Hybrid – 2–3 days office/site)Salary: Up to £89,000 + £5,800 Car AllowanceShift Type: Monday – Friday (36 hours)Benefits: Bonus, Private Healthcare, Enhanced Pension, 26–30 Days Holiday + Bank HolidaysThe OpportunityWe are supporting a major UK infrastructure organisation in appointing two Programme Technical Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale water and wastewater treatment programmes valued between £500m – £1bn.This is a senior leadership role with real influence—shaping technical strategy, driving performance across multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering critical infrastructure that supports long-term environmental and community resilience.If you are experienced in complex programme delivery and thrive in a strategic, high-impact environment, this role offers both scale and autonomy.Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop multi-disciplinary engineering teams, from junior engineers through to principal level
* Take ownership of technical delivery across major infrastructure programmes from concept through to handover
* Ensure projects are delivered to time, cost, quality, and safety expectations
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants to manage risk and drive outcomes
* Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, partners, and regulatory bodies
* Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across programme delivery
* Support strategic planning including business cases and technical project briefs
Requirements
* Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) with relevant professional membership
* Strong background in technical leadership within infrastructure, construction, or engineering environments
* Proven experience delivering complex, multi-year programmes
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* Experience with risk/value management across the full project lifecycle
* Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams
* Understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting infrastructure delivery
* Water sector experience advantageous but not essential
