Job Description
Band 5: £31,049 - £37,796. Full‑time hours: 37.5 per week. Fixed‑term contract: 2 years.
We are looking to recruit a qualified or trainee respiratory physiologist to join the Respiratory Physiology Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth. The Department delivers diagnostic testing as part of the national Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) Project and provides a comprehensive range of pulmonary function and exercise tests, including spirometry, gas transfer, lung volumes, allergy testing, challenge testing and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. The role will involve working as an independent practitioner across a variety of testing modalities, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to team audits and education, and engaging with patients, carers and other health professionals.
Successful candidates who do not yet possess the required professional qualifications should be willing to undertake in‑house or external training as appropriate.
* To provide specialist care as part of the multi‑disciplinary respiratory physiology team
* To work as an autonomous practitioner involved in the diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of respiratory and associated conditions
* As an autonomous practitioner, to provide a point of contact for these patients, their carers and other health professionals for advice, education and support
* To work independently (to protocols), be flexible and adaptable, and demonstrate initiative and reliability in a busy service
Qualifications
* BS(c) Hons in Healthcare Science, Specialising in Respiratory Physiology, part of the Practitioner Training Pathway (PTP)
* BS(c) Hons in Clinical Physiology or equivalent, with a specialism in respiratory physiology
* ARTP Associate/Practitioner professional qualification in pulmonary function testing
* Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science
