The role:
We are seeking an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to carry out these responsibilities across the entire facility. You will take ownership of site-wide engineering activities including repairs, preventative and reactive maintenance, installations, continuous improvement works, and troubleshooting of faults.
This is a full-time position based at our Kendal headquarters, Working hours will be a rotating shift pattern of 'Four on, Four Off' over an 8 week period.
Weekends and Bank Holiday working will be required on rotation.
Day Shifts = 06:00 – 18:10, Night Shifts = 18:00 – 06:10. These shifts will include regular overtime
What you'll be doing:
* Perform electrical repairs, preventative maintenance, and improvement activities on plant, machinery, and control systems using planned maintenance schedules and the site CMMS.
* Coordinate daily engineering tasks with Shift Electricians and the Engineering Manager.
* Work alongside Production Team Leaders to evaluate and prioritise concurrent equipment breakdowns.
* Respond efficiently to maintenance requests from production, operational support, and engineering personnel.
* Maintain accurate documentation including electrical logs, Engineering Work Requests, and Permit-to-Work records.
* Manage and complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) documentation, Safety Clearance Certificates, Plant Handover paperwork, portable appliance test records, shift reports, installation schedules, and timesheets.
* Update electrical drawings, schematics, and PLC-related documentation as modifications are carried out.
* Monitor engineering spares and report low stock or shortages to ensure continuity of maintenance operations.
Requirements
* Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent).
* Minimum three years' experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability across electrical systems.
* Competence in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and engineering diagrams.
* Willingness to work an 8-week rotating shift pattern, including out-of-hours and holiday cover when required.
* PLC knowledge desirable (e.g. Allen Bradley, Siemens, SCADA).
* Experience with electrical drives and control systems advantageous.
* Effective communicator with a proactive attitude toward teamwork, learning, and continuous development.
