The Role: Making a Lasting Impact
As Vice Principal – Pastoral, you will play a pivotal role in the next phase of our academy's growth, joining the senior leadership team to shape our culture and champion student wellbeing. You will lead the development of a robust pastoral strategy, ensuring that every student feels supported, valued, and able to reach their full potential. By promoting positive behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusion, you will help create a harmonious and aspirational environment where students flourish both in and beyond the classroom.
Your leadership will be instrumental in building strong partnerships with families and the wider community, fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our academy. You will work closely with staff and external partners to ensure that every child has access to the support they need, and that our musical ethos is reflected in all aspects of academy life. Through your commitment to continuous improvement, you will drive school improvement and help secure outstanding outcomes for all.

The Shireland CBSO Academy is the result of an exciting partnership between
Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust
and the
City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
(CBSO). Occupying a prominent location in West Bromwich, Sandwell, the academy will deliver an outstanding education for its students built on a foundation of academic and musical excellence.
This partnership will ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds across the West Midlands have a real and genuine opportunity to achieve musically at an elite and national level. In addition, the school will enable all students to benefit from the emotional, social, physical and academic benefits that active participation in music has been demonstrated to bring.
Every student at the academy will have the opportunity to learn an instrument and be part of a group capable of performing. This will require a commitment to frequent practice and extra-curricular activities.
