Band 6 Specialist ADHD Nurse – Derbyshire
We seek to appoint an experienced Band 6 Nurse who must have experience in Community working & working with children and their families. Ideally you will have a working knowledge of ADHD and Autism. Candidates will be supported to become competent in the management and review of children and young people with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mental health conditions who may also be taking medication and may have associated co‑morbidities. You will be trained and supported to work in clinic settings as well as undertaking comprehensive assessments for a designated cohort of children from the neurodevelopmental pathway.
Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive initial assessments and determine appropriate interventions for children with a confirmed or emerging diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental condition.
* Manage and review medication, using NICE guidance for medication reviews and work in partnership with the wider neurodevelopmental pathway.
* Make significant autonomous professional and clinical judgments on a daily basis, responding to situations as they arise.
* Collaboratively assess, plan, implement and evaluate care with other health professionals, using approaches to meet the comprehensive needs of children with ADHD, ASD and other comorbidities.
* Formulate individual care plans based on the child's identified needs, evidence‑based standards of care and meeting NICE guidelines.
* Promote understanding of the needs of children with ADHD, ASD and co‑morbidities to other health professionals, staff groups and agencies.
* Maintain accurate, high quality and contemporaneous electronic records and reports which comply with NMC professional and Trust standards.
* Receive and provide clinical supervision as required, adhering to the Trusts Standards.
* Support the practice of students and trainees from a range of disciplines by sharing knowledge and practice.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC licence) with Band 6 experience in community, child and adolescent or neurodevelopmental settings.
* Working knowledge of ADHD and Autism, and experience managing medication reviews.
* Demonstrated ability to make autonomous clinical judgments and manage complex caseloads.
* Strong communication skills and commitment to partnership working with agencies and local communities.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to the NMC Code of Conduct.
