Overview of Department
Our Fixed Income Investment Team invests money on behalf of our clients, deciding which companies to invest in. Credit markets will move up and down over short periods in ways that we cannot control or predict but, by analysing and understanding the key fundamental drivers for each potential investment, we use our experience and judgement to select sound investments capable of producing superior long-term returns for our clients. Our teams are deliberately small to foster a collegiate and personal working environment that allows for discussion and debate.
Purpose of Role
As a High Yield Analyst, you will play a central role in researching and evaluating investment opportunities across European high yield credit markets.
You will be responsible for generating differentiated insights, challenging consensus thinking, and contributing investment ideas to the team.
This role could be based in Edinburgh or London.
Responsibilities
1. Conducting in-depth fundamental credit analysis across multiple sectors, applying both qualitative and quantitative techniques to evaluate financial strength, capital structures, business quality, and sustainability.
2. Building and maintaining detailed financial models to assess company performance, capital structures, and future cash flow generation.
3. Identifying attractive investment opportunities in high yield bonds.
4. Making relative value judgements between different credits, sectors, and geographies.
5. Monitoring existing holdings and providing timely updates on credit developments, risks, and catalysts.
6. Engaging with company management teams, industry experts, and external research providers.
7. Working collaboratively with portfolio managers and other analysts to shape investment decisions and portfolio construction.
Your knowledge and experience:
8. Significant experience in high yield credit research
9. Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with the ability to interpret complex capital structures
10. A proven ability to develop high-conviction investment ideas and communicate them clearly, in both persuasive written research and verbal presentations
11. Ability to make relative value judgements between different investment opportunities
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
13. Collaborative mindset, with a willingness to share ideas and work constructively within a team
14. Self-motivation and the capacity to thrive in a flat, non-hierarchical environment
