Role
The Medical Officer role is a permanent position within a busy, multidisciplinary area team. The post-holder will be professionally accountable to the Executive Director (Medical) for their specialty and will report to a Senior Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide medical psychiatric care and work in a multidisciplinary team across a range of psychiatric sub-specialities.
* Demonstrate excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills.
* Communicate effectively and empathetically with mental health and learning disability service users, carers and advocates, and influence and negotiate with high-level colleagues in the health, social care and voluntary sectors.
* Apply and understand mental health and incapacity legislation in Scotland; experience of working with Mental Health Officers and knowledge of their role.
Qualifications and Skills
* Fully registered medical practitioner and hold the MRCPsych or equivalent, or be eligible for accreditation as an AMP.
* Experience of providing medical psychiatric care and working in a multidisciplinary team across a range of psychiatric sub-specialities.
* Excellent IT, written and verbal skills.
* Excellent understanding of the mental health and learning disability agenda in Scotland with the capacity to influence and negotiate with high-level colleagues.
