Role Summary and Purpose A 9 - 12 month contract to take the Infrastructure recovery processes to a mature, business aligned Disaster recovery processes. Reporting to the AVP of Infrastructure and Operations you will work closely with the Infrastructure, IT Governance team, products and operational risk teams to develop and complete Disaster Recovery process to meet the business needs of our priority business services. The role will be responsible to gather and understanding the business requirements (RTO and RPO), ensuring the Disaster Recovery processes meets these requirements. Along with identifying any required supporting infrastructure and developing the recovery processes, the role is also responsible for working with the product teams to create a light touch, repeatable processes to achieve a regular testing cadence. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Support, promote and lead the IT Disaster Recovery Program ensuring it's suitable, workable, and maintained/updated to reflect relevant changes across the global enterprise. Conducting risk assessments and identifying potential threats to IT systems: You'll assess risks, vulnerabilities, and potential impact on critical systems, helping to prioritize recovery efforts. Complete Business Impact Analysis to identify business requirements Working on the identified priorities applications, you will deep dive on the underlying working parts of the applications and align business requirements to the service capabilities. Developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans: You'll create and update comprehensive plans to ensure business continuity in the event of disasters or disruptions with internal technical teams, applications teams and service providers. Ensuring that disaster recovery plans are integrated with the organization's overall business continuity plans. Creating a DR frame work to manage IT services from inception, through to acceptance into BAU. Ensuring backups of critical data and applications are performed regularly: You'll oversee data backups and validate their effectiveness to safeguard against data loss and consider relevant reporting for evidence for Auditing. Conducting regular testing and training to ensure that all personnel are familiar with disaster recovery procedures and that the plans are effective. Coordinating with other departments to ensure continuity of business operations after a disaster: Collaboration with various teams is crucial to implement recovery strategies effectively. Build disaster recovery into our everyday processes. Identify requirements within product teams to ensure a light touch annual testing process. Building onboarding processes to test systems before go live and approving services for Disaster recovery readiness. Defining and Standardizing Good DR Practices : Ensuring a professional and robust framework is implemented to ensure new services, solutions and applications are designed with Disaster Recovery in mind. Collaborate with IT operational teams : Advance the IT DR Program maturity ensuring replication occurs and processes are active, efficient and effective. Participate in providing assurance of outsourced providers DR contractual provisions and validate testing through a rigorous review and challenge process. Interface with suppliers and vendors as needed to evaluate software, hardware or services and makes recommendations. Role Requirements & Skills Infrastructure: Create recovery plans for infrastructure and applications, manage distributed computing infrastructure, and ensure application recoverability on shared and dedicated infrastructure Business Continuity: Understand business processes and ensuring their continuity during disruptions is crucial. The Candidate must be able to develop and maintain business continuity plans to minimize downtime. Project Management: Managing recovery projects involves planning, execution, and coordination. Proficiency in project management methodologies is essential. Business Impact Analysis: Assessing the impact of disruptions on critical systems helps prioritize recovery efforts. The Candidate must be able to analyze risks and vulnerabilities. Impact Analysis: Beyond technical aspects, evaluate the broader impact of disasters on business operations. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with best practices and evolving technologies to ensure effective disaster recovery strategies. Recovery Procedures: The Candidate must be able to create and validate recovery procedures for data, applications, and infrastructure. Recovery Programs: Implementing and maintaining recovery programs to safeguard against data loss and system downtime. Technical Background : Must have experience in Cloud solutions and services preferably in Azure including knowledge of disaster recovery tooling. Experience of modern architectural practices using containerization would be beneficial. Effective Communication: Proper communication, documentation, and training are key to successful recovery and business continuity plans. Collaboration: The Disaster recovery manager will work with senior-level management, technical teams, and external partners. Building partnerships is essential. Vendor Management: Coordinating with vendors for services like data backup, cloud solutions, and recovery facilities. Problem-Solving: Addressing deficiencies, tracking progress, and adapting strategies as needed. Attention to Detail: Ensuring all critical components are covered in recovery plans. Leadership: Defining action plans and guiding teams during crisis situations and maintaining a calm approach. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
