To form an integral part of the front of house and administrative team, contributing to the daily office routine within General Practice. The role shall include various administrative tasks, reception duties and dealing with telephone enquiries.
Responsibilities
* Undertake reception duties for both the Victoria Medical Centre and The Beacon Practice when required following protocols and procedures.
* Greet all patients and visitors in a courteous and polite manner, offering all reasonable assistance.
* Handle and process prescriptions, ensuring all prescription requests are processed and ready for collection within three working days.
* Book appointments by telephone and face to face.
* Receive and make calls as required, diverting calls to the relevant team.
* Undertake administrative duties such as completing tasks in EMIS Web and DOCMAN.
* Register new patients.
* Scan documents and post.
* Deal with email queries following protocols and procedures.
* Send FP10s to appliance companies (e.g., Nutricia, Bullens).
* Act as the first point of contact for patients raising concerns or informal complaints, responding in a calm, empathetic, and professional manner.
* Support patients by directing them to the most appropriate service or clinician based on their needs, using care navigation procedures and internal and external skills lists.
* Carry out daily opening and closing duties to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the practice.

We are now settled into our ultra‑modern purpose‑built premises post‑merger – built in 2021. We are a training practice for Foundation doctors and GP trainees, with 30,000 patients, 33 consulting rooms, 2 operating suites and a private suite. We also have a training academy, daily training huddles, clinical meetings, an active PCN, a branch surgery and a separate open‑access mental health hub in the Foundry, both located in the town’s main shopping centre.
