Introduction to Kent Cricket

Kent Cricket is one of only 18 professional county cricket clubs in England and Wales. From our current headquarters at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury, and with a satellite ground at The County Ground, Beckenham, we are responsible for the growth and development of all cricket across Kent including our four London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, and Lewisham – from community and schools’ cricket to the professional game. Founded in 1870, Kent has won every domestic cricket title, playing host to some of the greatest cricketers in the game including current England stars Tammy Beaumont and Zak Crawley, as well as former club Captain and now Managing Director of England and Wales Cricket Board, Rob Key, and England Women’s Head Coach Charlotte Edwards. Our rich heritage, a thriving recreational game – with more recreational players than every county bar one – and our unique estate provide the foundations upon which you can help create the next historic chapter for Kent Cricket.

Who We’re Looking For

We believe the evolving cricketing landscape undoubtedly demands a Board with a broad set of skills. We are currently looking to recruit up to four Non‑Executive Directors to help us achieve the ambition to become both financially sustainable and enduringly competitive on the field, with players predominantly produced in Kent.

We are looking for dedicated and collaborative individuals who have an understanding of and experience in at least one of the following areas:

* Successful commercial leadership, particularly in sport
* Elite cricket or professional sport experience
* Estate utilisation and development
* Accounting or legal experience

In addition to possessing board‑level experience and the time to attend both board meetings (usually four physical meetings per year, and up to eight online meetings) as well as cricket matches and important club events, candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in Kent Cricket and a passion to ensure that Kent Cricket is a champion of inclusivity and diversity, genuinely changing the lives of the people of Kent.

What We Offer

This is a voluntary position, with reasonable expenses reimbursed and subsistence associated with the role provided.

Commitment

The role requires a commitment of approximately 12–24 days per year. Appointment terms are one, two, or three years, with possible renewal for additional three‑year terms.

Physical board meetings will take place at Canterbury and Beckenham venues to reflect our remit to serve the County of Kent and the four Metropolitan Kent London Boroughs. However, the majority of meetings are held online.

Equality Statement

Kent Cricket is committed to improving the diversity of our Board and our workforce. We have obtained the ECB Gold standard of governance as it relates to the County Partnership Agreement and the composition of the board. Our selection process will be mindful of maintaining that Gold standard.

We welcome applicants from all walks of life and backgrounds who can bring diversity of thought and experience to the club. We are committed to ensuring that all applicants do not receive less favourable treatment or are discriminated against on the grounds of age; disability; gender; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy or maternity; race; religion or belief; sex or sexual orientation.

Safeguarding

Kent Cricket is committed to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and adults in cricket and we expect all employees to share this commitment. All posts are subject to a vetting process with references taken up and, where the role involves working in regulated activity with children, a current ECB DBS is required.

How to Apply

To apply, submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and personal specification to jobs@kentcricket.co.uk with the subject “Non‑Executive Director”. The deadline for applications is 5:00 pm GMT on Monday 5 January 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with the Nominations Committee in January. The new board member will be formally ratified and appointed at the AGM in March 2025.
