As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Curo, you will play a key role in ensuring our developments are delivered with strong commercial control and value for money. Working within the Commercial Team and based at The Hub, Mulberry Park, Bath (hybrid working with a minimum of three days office-based). The role involves overseeing at least one development from pre-contract stage through to final account settlement. Assisting the wider commercial team with managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, cost reporting and change control to ensure effective commercial performance. Through diligent cost management and collaboration with Technical, Buying and Construction teams, you will help deliver quality homes that provide long-term value to our customers and communities. Your work will directly support the financial strength and continued success of our developments. What you'll be doing Pre-Development Support the preparation and coordination of tender and contract documentation for subcontractor and material procurement. Analyse subcontract tenders, ensuring compliance, accuracy and value for money. Assist with subcontract negotiations and contribute to pre-development and pre-start meetings. Support the preparation of site start budgets to enable effective cost control from day one. Live Scheme Commercial Management Take responsibility for overseeing at least one live scheme from contract award to final account. Manage subcontractor orders, payments, variations and dayworks in line with contractual requirements. Prepare and undertake works valuations, including support with groundworks accounts. Assess, negotiate and agree variations to ensure best value outcomes. Monitor costs, identify trends and clearly explain cost movements within site valuations. Report on savings, risks and budget variances, supporting proactive commercial decision-making. Contribute to value engineering initiatives to enhance scheme performance. Collaborate with Technical, Buying and Construction teams to ensure effective Change to Contract (CTC) management. Prepare subcontractor final accounts and support post-contract reviews and lessons learned. Provide commercial support on legacy schemes as required. Working towards or holding a relevant qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying degree, HNC/HND or equivalent). Sound knowledge of masonry and timber frame house building. Competent in undertaking take-offs as required. Strong IT proficiency with excellent numerical and analytical skills. Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities effectively. Confident working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities. Strong communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Resilient and able to perform under pressure. Full UK driving licence and access to own transport. Valid CSCS card. Experience using the COINS system.
