Job Title: Registered Manager Childrens Residential Home (EBD)
Location: Bilston, West Midlands
Salary: £55,000 £65,000 per annum (DOE) + bonuses
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including on-call duties)
Holidays: 28 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a children's residential home in Bilston, supporting young people aged 718 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring high standards of trauma-informed care, compliance with Ofsted regulations, and a nurturing environment that enables children to thrive.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Management
* Provide strong, values-led leadership to the care team, fostering a positive and child-centred culture.
* Ensure full compliance with Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.
* Maintain and review the homes Statement of Purpose and ensure staff adhere to its ethos and policies.
* Lead on audits, inspections, and internal quality assurance processes.
* Develop operational procedures and promote continuous improvement across the home.
Care & Support
* Oversee assessments, admissions, and individualised care planning for all young people.
* Promote a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to care delivery.
* Ensure effective safeguarding and wellbeing monitoring.
* Lead on transition and independence planning to prepare young people for adulthood.
* Support a homely, safe, and engaging environment tailored to each childs needs.
Safeguarding & Compliance
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring robust safeguarding practices across the home.
* Maintain readiness for Ofsted inspections and support a culture of high standards.
* Complete and review Regulation 44 and 45 reports as required.
Staff Leadership & Development
* Recruit, induct, supervise and develop a motivated team of residential care workers.
* Deliver effective supervision, appraisals, and ongoing training.
* Promote reflective practice and trauma-aware leadership.
* Ensure staffing levels meet the needs of the home at all times, including managing emergencies and the on-call rota.
Partnership Working
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, health professionals, schools and other stakeholders.
* Represent the home at external meetings, reviews and inspections.
Finance & Administration
* Manage the homes budget, resources, and rota in a cost-effective and child-focused manner.
* Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with data protection and GDPR regulations.
Essential Requirements
* NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered or Deputy Manager in a childrens residential setting.
* Proven experience working with children and young people with EBD, trauma, and complex needs.
* Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to undertake).
* Strong leadership, communication, and safeguarding knowledge.
Desirable
* Experience achieving a "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted outcome.
* Training or qualifications in therapeutic or trauma-informed care.
* Experience supporting young people with additional needs (ASD, ADHD, mental health).
