About The Job
At Autotrader, we are looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our highly successful data science team. Over the past 10 years, we have invested heavily in building our data science capability, growing a team of 35+ data scientists and analysts, many with PhD and postdoctoral research experience. We have developed and deployed a wide range of machine learning-driven products and tools, impacting every area of the business, from consumer search to forecourt management and internal tools.
Role Overview
As a Professional Data Scientist, you will join a cross-functional squad focused on specific products or services. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will apply your knowledge of Data Science techniques to solve critical problems, collaborating with your team to develop ML solutions for production and managing all stages of the ML lifecycle.
Current Projects
* Creating personalized recommendations to engage buyers
* Improving search algorithms for a better user experience and seller visibility
* Developing AI tools for creating listings and ads
* Studying the impact of competition on seller performance
* Upgrading our customer data platform for targeted marketing
Collaboration and Community
Our Data Scientists work closely with Data and Digital Analysts, fostering a culture of shared insights, continuous learning, and mutual support through showcases, feedback sessions, mentorship, and workshops. Learn more about our analytics group in this link.
Technologies Used
Our data platform supports industry-leading Data Science tools. While experience with all these technologies is not expected, familiarity is beneficial:
* Python and Databricks
* Spark, MLFlow, Airflow
* Google Cloud Platform

What We’re Looking For
* Experience delivering data science solutions in a commercial or research environment
* Strong understanding of Data Science techniques, ML algorithms, and statistical methods
* Proficiency in building ML pipelines with Python
* Enthusiasm for engaging with non-technical stakeholders and ensuring scientific rigor
* Experience collaborating across disciplines, including with software engineers

Benefits
Salary of £40,000 – £60,000 plus 10% shares awarded annually, vesting over three years.
