Job Title: Data Centre Technician Location: Northampton / Knutsford Salary/Rate: £437 per day inside IR35 Start Date: August 2025 Job Type: 6 month Contract Company Introduction My client within financial services is seeking a Data Centre Technician for an infrastructure transformation project urgently underway. This is an initial 6 month contract with hybrid working in either location (3 x days a week). Job Responsibilities/Objectives 1. Provision of technical support for the service management function to resolve more complex issues for a specific client of group of clients. Develop the support model and service offering to improve the service to customers and stakeholders. 2. Execution of preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and utilisation of monitoring tools/metrics to identify, prevent and address potential issues and ensure optimal performance. 3. Maintenance of a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self-service opportunities and knowledge sharing. 4. Analysis of system logs, error messages and user reports to identify the root causes of hardware, software and network issues, and providing a resolution to these issues by fixing or replacing faulty hardware components, reinstalling software, or applying configuration changes. 5. Automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front office specific support and stakeholder management. 6. Identification and remediation or raising, through appropriate process, of potential service impacting risks and issues. Required Skills/Experience 1. Numerous hardware platforms, IT Infrastructure, and interdependencies, such as Storage and SAN elements, Unix and Wintel computing platforms, Networking platforms, emerging technologies from both a distributed systems and Data Centre infrastructure level 2. Troubleshooting and repairing hardware issues at the server level. 3. Change and/or incident management in a similar support function (has experience of supporting software tools) 4. Cabling. Working in data centre Desirable Skills/Experience 1. ITIL Foundation or better 2. CompTIA Server qualification. Any other relevant certification. 3. 24 x 7 shift working experience.
