About the role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children at our children's home to build emotional resilience, manage their mental health, and develop life skills in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Identify and respond to risk taking behaviours children may engage in and act accordingly to minimise or prevent risks and harm
* Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour management techniques
* Providing one-to-one and group support to children
* Assisting with day-to-day routines, including education, meals, and activities
* Monitoring wellbeing and responding to emotional or behavioural crises
* Working collaboratively with external professionals therapists, social workers, and other professionals as well as our internal team of support workers, seniors and the leadership team
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to care plans, risk assessments and therapeutic feedback, where required.
* Undertake and implement behaviour and anger management plans, therapeutic interventions, self-esteem building and low-level target-related interventions such as CBT and DBT.
* Be creative in exploring and planning therapeutic activities (such as pet-assistive therapy, art therapy, holistic therapy) to share with the staff and management team for discussion and implementation during monthly and bi-monthly house and professional meetings.
* Undertake work in managing emotions, relationships, peer choices, self-esteem, and anger management with the children in Northampton residential settings.

Requirements for this role:
* Must have experience working in a role related to mental health / therapeutic work such as rehabilitation centers, social and health care provisions and services
* Must hold a suitable qualification i.e. Behaviour that challenges, Mental Health, Health and social care and suitable training courses
