Hire Controller Location: Cardiff | Plant & Tool Hire Sector
NEOS Engineering are recruiting on behalf of a leading independent plant and tool hire business operating across the South of England, Wales and Scotland.
Due to continued expansion and ambitious growth plans, we are seeking a high-calibre Hire Controller to join a busy and successful depot team in Cardiff. This is a pivotal position within the business, playing a central role in ensuring the smooth and profitable running of the Hire Desk.

The Role As Hire Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing depot hire operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery while maximising fleet utilisation and supporting business growth.
You will work closely with internal departments, customers, logistics teams and management to ensure hires are processed efficiently, professionally and in line with company standards.
Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage depot hire operations to meet agreed service delivery levels
Manage local hire fleet stock levels and work closely with internal teams to maximise fleet availability
Conduct internal reviews and audits of hire contract activity to ensure quality and compliance
Oversee new hire contracts and off-hires, ensuring accuracy and adherence to process standards
Support central logistics to ensure efficient local and national transport operations
Work alongside the central re-hire team to allocate re-hire equipment effectively
Handle inbound calls, enquiries and sales leads in a professional manner
Provide hire and transport rate support when required
Identify and support new business opportunities from inbound and outbound activity
Contribute to achieving depot sales growth targets across all products and services

Essential: Proven experience within a hire operations role
Strong organisational and communication skills
Excellent negotiation and time management skills
Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
Confident working independently and under pressure
Competent IT skills
Experience selling products and services to end users
Desirable: Background knowledge within construction, plant or tool hire
