Vice President and Head of Engineering - Software

As a global leader in precision radiation medicine, we are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking VP & Head of Engineering – Software to lead our global software engineering organization and shape the future of Linac Software Solutions.
What You’ll Do
* Lead a global team of 300+ engineers across multiple regions.
* Drive the end‑to‑end software engineering strategy for Linac Software Solutions.
* Develop and execute a long‑term technology and capability roadmap to foster innovation and maintain competitiveness.
* Promote best‑in‑class engineering practices and a culture of continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Devices Engineering, Product Management, Regulatory, and Quality to deliver integrated solutions.
This role can be based in Crawley, UK or Helsinki, Finland, with a hybrid working model that supports flexibility and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Define and implement software engineering strategies aligned with business goals.
* Lead workforce planning and talent development initiatives.
* Contribute to strategic decision‑making as part of the R&D Leadership Team.
Product Ownership & Delivery
* Oversee software development across the full lifecycle.
* Ensure delivery of high‑quality, compliant, and secure applications.
* Support execution of product roadmaps and continuous engineering efforts.
Organizational Management
* Coach and guide senior engineering leaders globally.
* Manage budgets, headcount planning, and cost efficiency.
* Optimize global competence planning and organizational structure.
Capability & Competence Development
* Map and develop capabilities across engineering disciplines.
* Build and retain high‑performing teams with clear succession planning.
* Ensure consistent performance reviews and professional development.
Cross‑Functional & Strategic Alignment
* Align engineering efforts with Product Management, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, and Group Strategy.
* Partner with Solution Architecture and PMO to uphold design principles and PLM processes.
* Act as a key contributor to the R&D Leadership Team.
What You Bring
* Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical field.
* Extensive senior leadership experience in international engineering environments.
* Proven success in the medical device industry and product development.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to lead geographically distributed teams with a results‑oriented approach.
