Defence & Security Civils Technical Lead

This role leads the Civils design revenue growth within the Defence & Security sector business unit and is responsible for the service quality delivery of the discipline's projects.
Role description
Lead the growth of the Civils design revenue within the Defence & Security sector business unit and hold responsibility for the service quality delivery of the discipline's projects. Support the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence, and profitable growth within the business unit. This role reports to the Defence & Security Sector Leader/ Defence & Security Business Director/ Defence Design Lead/ Defence & Security Primes, and Contractor Lead.
Role accountabilities
* Identify and pursue new opportunities to generate revenue and expand our client base, through existing contacts and new.
* Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth for both new and existing clients.
* Support in the development and implementation of effective sales strategies to achieve sector targets and ambitions.
* Support in market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business opportunities.
* Support and lead on the preparation and presentation of proposals, bids, and interviews to new and existing clients.
* Provide regular reports on growth and sales activities, pipeline status, and performance metrics to senior management.
* Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
* Support in the development and implementation of the Civils business plan within the unit and ensure the team understands it, and the role that they play in its achievement.
* Maintain a strong understanding of Civils requirements and standards within the Defence & Security sector to provide informed insights and value propositions.
* Support and lead on ensuring the quality of deliverables meets company standards and client expectations.
* Support in motivating and developing a diverse team of engineers, reviewing performance to ensure staff are developed, driven, and have the necessary skills to deliver the sector projects and ambitions.
* Lead on the quality of delivery and service excellence to deliver growth in organic revenue in the sector.
* Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the defence clients and the market to identify key trends and emerging opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 15 years of experience in the Civils industry.
* Minimum 5 years in the Defence & Security sector.
* Existing client contacts with Contractors or Primes within the Defence & Security sector.
* Demonstrable portfolio of successful pursuits and completed projects in the Defence & Security sector.
* Proven track record of winning work with existing contacts and of bidding on work for new clients.
* In-depth knowledge of the Defence & Security sector and Civils standards and regulations within it.
* Ability to obtain SC clearance.
