Job Description Job Summary The Senior Commissioning Dedicated Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating defined I&C commissioning scopes at the client's project, ensuring systems are commissioned safely, compliantly, and in line with nuclear quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. This is a temporary cover role for approximately 6.5 months, providing leadership continuity during a critical phase of commissioning and start-up. The role acts as the focal point for I&C commissioning across multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with the project's commissioning strategy, nuclear safety culture, and UK regulatory expectations. Scope of Work Main Scope (Direct Leadership) DMIC I&C Commissioning – overall I&C commissioning lead for the DMIC scope I&C support for Cranes Commissioning – support for commissioning coordination, testing, and handover of crane systems focusing on I&C scope Mainstreams (Oversight & Integration) The role provides leadership oversight and integration for the following three I&C mainstreams, each managed by a dedicated scope manager: I&C representative for Milestone journey to Demin water Plant (covering DMIC scope of Demin Water Plant) I&C representative for Milestone journey to CETP (coordinating I&C activities) Lead preparation and commissioning for Hydrogen Detection System Lead preparation and commissioning for Fire Detection System Supporting delivery of TAE milestone (temporary I&C systems delivery) Managing three direct reports: Commissioning engineer for HVAC I&C scope Commissioning engineer for Turbine I&C scope Commissioning engineer for Fire detection and Hydrogen detection scopes Responsibilities include: Ensuring interface alignment between all I&C scopes and the wider HPC commissioning programme Maintaining consistent commissioning methodologies, documentation, and safety standards Chairing one weekly coordination meeting with each of the three mainstream scope senior commissioning engineers to review progress, risks, interfaces, and readiness Key Responsibilities Commissioning Leadership Lead I&C commissioning activities for DMIC contracts (various cranes, Demin water plant, fire detection, hydrogen detection) in accordance with the project commissioning processes Plan and sequence commissioning activities to support system handover, energisation, and start-up milestones Ensure readiness for loop checks, functional testing, cause & effect testing, and integrated system testing Interface closely with construction, electrical, mechanical, and operations teams Technical Oversight Review I&C commissioning procedures, test packs, and vendor documentation for nuclear compliance Provide technical leadership during I&C testing, fault finding, and issue resolution. Review of commissioning results following site acceptance test activities for Cranes, hydrogen detection system, etc. Ensure effective interface management between systems. Support DCS, PLC, SIS, and field instrumentation commissioning activities. Nuclear Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure all commissioning activities are executed in line with nuclear safety culture, project quality arrangements, and site procedures Comply with UK regulatory requirements, including ONR expectations and client governance Ensure strict adherence to permit-to-work, LOTO, configuration control, and change management processes Participate in safety reviews, readiness reviews, and regulatory inspections as required Coordination & Communication Act as the primary I&C commissioning interface for the assigned scopes Lead weekly/bi-weekly coordination meetings with for Demin water plant (I&C scope), CETP (I&C scope) HVAC, hydrogen fire detection, and turbine scope managers Provide clear reporting on progress, risks, constraints, and commissioning readiness Support operator familiarisation and handover activities Documentation & Handover Ensure completeness and quality of commissioning records, test evidence, and as-built documentation Manage I&C punch lists through closure in accordance with HPC requirements Support final system acceptance and turnover to Operations and Maintenance
