Area Manager – Repairs & Maintenance
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and values-driven Area Manager to lead the delivery of a high-quality repairs and maintenance service. This is a senior operational role with full accountability for performance, budget management, and health and safety compliance.
You will be responsible for leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team, alongside managing supply chain partners, to ensure the effective delivery of planned, reactive, and out-of-hours services. With a strong focus on operational excellence, you will oversee complex repairs, monitor KPIs, and use data insights to drive continuous improvement and value for money.
This role offers full profit and loss responsibility, requiring strong financial management through forecasting, budget control, and performance reporting. You will work collaboratively across internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and deliver an excellent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage operational delivery of repairs and maintenance services
* Oversee performance against KPIs, ensuring high-quality outcomes
* Manage budgets with full P&L accountability, including forecasting and reporting
* Drive continuous improvement using performance data and insights
* Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and standards
* Manage complex and escalated repairs effectively
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners
* Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
* Manage employee relations matters including absence, performance, and disciplinary processes
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture
About You
* Proven experience in a leadership role within repairs & maintenance or facilities management
* Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
* Experience managing budgets and operational performance
* Ability to analyse data and drive service improvements
* Knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
* Experience in social housing or hard services (desirable)
* Relevant professional or health & safety qualifications (or working towards)
* Strong IT and data analysis skills
