An opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a well established manufacturing company who are part of an established brand across Europe. This is a field‑based position requiring frequent travel and regular overnight stays-typically 5 to 10 nights per month-to support customers efficiently and maintain high service standards. A full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
As a Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for undertaking both pre-planned preventative maintenance and call-out servicing of fluid dispensing machines primarily at customer premises but also completing works at the factory in Rushden. The role will involve the following
Carry out PPM, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on fluid dispensing machinery at customer locations.
Perform mechanical, electrical, and basic control system fault-finding.
Ensure all work is completed to company standards, with accurate documentation and service reporting.
Provide technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times.
Manage spare parts, tools, and equipment effectively.
Work closely with the service coordinator to plan site visits and travel schedules.
Adhere to all health, safety, and compliance requirements.
To be considered for this role we are looking for someone with the following skills experience and attributes
Mechanical/Electrical Engineering qualification (PLC programming experience an advantage)
Knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles and Electrical fault finding
Analytical and technical skills
Support commissioning and training at customer premises as/when required
Dynamic, ambitious, presentable with a positive outlook and approachable manner
Ability to work in a calm considered manner whilst under pressure
Self-motivator with industrious work ethic
Willing to stay away overnight at least between 5-10 days per month
Computer literate (Microsoft Office adept in Excel, Word, Outlook)
Flexible, hands-on approach with willingness to work additional hours if required
Prepared to travel extensively throughout the UK and also work abroad if required
Good report writing skills and the ability to produce service reports
Capable of building and maintaining strong business relationships with colleagues and customers
What is on offer
£32k basic (negotiable depending upon experience) + overtime + company car + phone + laptop + expenses + annual bonus (depending upon company performance)
There is provision for a Pension after qualifying period + 20 days holidays, rising to 25 for each year
