Responsibilities:
Design opto-mechanical systems from concept to detailed drawings using SolidWorks
Collaborate closely with optical, electronic, and systems engineers to deliver functional designs
Perform FEA (thermoelastic, static, dynamic) on components including deformation of optical surfaces
Support assembly, integration, and testing in cleanroom environments
Liaise with suppliers and manage manufacturing activities and work packages
Produce design documentation, maintain logs, and create technical review materialSkills & experience:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Proven experience in the design, build, and test of opto-mechanical systems, ideally for space applications
Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar) and FEA experience (e.g. ANSYS)
Knowledge of mounting optics (lenses, mirrors, filters), kinematic principles, and material selection
Excellent problem-solving skills in stress, thermal, and vibration analysis
Familiarity with BS8888 drawing standards and a quality-assured engineering environmentWhat’s in it for you?
