Overview
Aberdeen Maternity Hospital’s Theatre Team is recruiting two Band 5 Perioperative Practitioners (RN or ODP) for our busy, specialised obstetric theatre service.
The role is permanent, full‑time, with 12‑hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends within a 24/7 emergency and elective service. You'll rotate across all phases of perioperative practice – anaesthetics, scrub, PACU – and gain specialist obstetric experience, with future inclusion of gynaecology and breast surgery.
This is a critical period as we transition to the new Baird Family Hospital in July 2027, which will feature a world‑class, purpose‑built theatre suite.
Responsibilities
* Deliver person‑centred, forward‑thinking perioperative care across all phases in a 24/7 obstetric theatre service.
* Work in 12‑hour shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
* Rotate through anaesthesia, scrub, PACU and obstetric perioperative care.
* Support and develop skills across all areas of practice, including future gynaecology and breast surgery.
Qualifications
* HCPC‑registered ODP or NMC‑registered Nurse with theatre experience, or highly motivated to learn.
* Demonstrated or genuine interest in obstetric and women’s health perioperative care.
* Strong teamwork, resilience and commitment to high‑quality patient care.
* Overseas applicants must hold an HCPC or NMC PIN and be able to demonstrate competence across all three perioperative phases.
