Geography Teacher — Location: Durham • Contract: Full-time • Key Stages: KS3-KS4 • Start Date: March 2026
A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Durham is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated Geography Teacher to join their humanities department from March 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, developing their understanding of the world, human and physical geography, and the global challenges shaping our future.
Role Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering physical, human, and environmental geography
* Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages enquiry, discussion, and independent thinking
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support
* Monitor pupil progress, assess learning, and provide constructive feedback to support achievement
* Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE Geography examinations where applicable
* Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the humanities department
* Support whole-school values and contribute positively to the wider school community
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
* Experience teaching Geography at KS3-KS4
* Strong subject knowledge across physical, human, and environmental geography
* Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
* A passion for developing students' curiosity about the world and contemporary geographical issues
