The Role: Grants & Funding Manager - Future Commercial Director
We're looking for a Grants & Funding Manager / Future Commercial Director to join us on a freelance, commission-based basis — with the potential to grow into a senior leadership role, including equity or partnership opportunities.
You'll work directly with the Company Director and the Plugged Inn team to lead fundraising, sponsorship, and commercial development efforts, helping us bring this exciting new festival and future projects to life.
What You'll Be Doing
Revenue & Fundraising
* Research and write grant applications (including Arts Council England and local trusts)
* Identify and secure sponsorships and commercial partnerships, both cash and in-kind
* Build and maintain relationships with brands, funders, and local community organisations
Event & Operational Support
* Assist with festival planning and logistics: vendor coordination, artist bookings, permits, and budgeting
* Contribute ideas for programming and growth strategies that fit Plugged Inn's community-driven ethos
Publicity & Outreach
* Support press release drafting and media outreach to boost festival visibility
* Help manage publicity efforts across local media and partner networks
Business Development
* Collaborate on shaping a sustainable commercial strategy and revenue model
* Track income streams and funding success to inform growth plans
* Provide input on company structure and scaling as Plugged Inn expands
Who We're Looking For
* Experience in fundraising, sponsorship, or business development, ideally within events, music, or the arts
* Skilled at grant writing and pitching to commercial partners
* Strategic yet hands-on: able to lead but also get involved with day-to-day tasks
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
* Passionate about live music, community culture, and Wolverhampton's creative scene
* Ready to start ASAP and commit over the coming months
Payment, Equity & PerksFlexible Compensation
* Commission-Based: 5–10% on successful grants and 10–15% on sponsorships (cash or in-kind), paid within 30 days of funds received
* Guaranteed Fee Option: Open to discussing a fixed freelance fee based on your experience and time commitment
