About the Role
Our client is a YC-backed lawtech startup building AI software for legal teams working on complex, high-stakes matters. The product is designed to help professionals work faster and more accurately with large volumes of documents and information.
The company is led by a small founding team with deep technical and domain experience, and is trusted by demanding users who care deeply about security, reliability, and correctness.
This role is one of the very first engineering hires. You’ll have significant freedom to shape the product and technical direction, ship production code from day one, and work closely with users as the platform scales.
What You’ll Do
* Work closely with users to iterate on AI behaviour, outputs, and edge cases
* Build and own AI-powered LawTech features end-to-end, across backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
* Design and implement systems that apply GenAI to real, high-stakes professional workflows
* Build and scale data and document processing pipelines that enable fast, accurate data-driven analysis
* Help shape engineering standards, technical direction, and future hiring as one of the first engineers
Who You Are
* A highly capable full-stack engineer with a strong academic background or experience at a top-tier company or startup
* High-agency and self-directed — you take ownership, make decisions, and ship
* Strong product judgement with a focus on correctness, usability, and edge cases
* Comfortable working on hard problems and seeing them through end-to-end
* Clear communicator with a high bar for quality and attention to detail
