The Role – Graduate English Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning by:
* Working one-to-one or in small groups with students who need additional literacy support
* Assisting with the delivery of engaging English lessons that cover reading, writing, and analysis
* Supporting pupils with GCSE exam preparation and coursework
* Encouraging thoughtful class discussion and participation in English topics
* Helping students overcome learning barriers, particularly in written expression and comprehension
* Preparing lesson materials and maintaining an orderly, productive learning environment
* Collaborating with English teachers and SEN staff to address individual learning needs
What We’re Looking For – Graduate English Teaching Assistant
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A 2:1 degree or higher in English, English Literature, or a closely related subject.
* A strong academic background, particularly in English at A-Level and GCSE.
* A genuine passion for English education and a desire to inspire young learners.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A calm, adaptable approach and the ability to engage pupils at various ability levels.
* Previous experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is advantageous but not essential.
* A long-term interest in a career in education, whether teaching, curriculum design, or educational support.
