Position Overview
Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry – Inpatient Team, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* Act as consultant psychiatrist, approved clinician, and responsible clinician on Garner Ward.
* Hold overall approved clinician and responsible clinician responsibility for all 16 patients on the ward and work with other approved clinicians.
* Review patients, liaise with their families and other professionals involved.
* Provide clinical supervision to junior doctors.
* Attend ward meetings, including board rounds and Future Care Planning Meetings.
* Help formulate the treatment plan and give guidance for evidence‑based treatment.
* Maintain good relationships with ward team, fellow old‑age psychiatrists, multi‑professional approved clinicians, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard or Mental Health Act teams.
* Occasionally provide expert advice, as directed by the courts, on Trust patients.
