Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate, enthusiastic, motivated, hardworking individual to join the Homeless Mental Health service, providing engagement, assessment, support & access to treatment services for people who are homeless.
The service has just been granted approval to expand in a phased approach across the wider county districts of Leicestershire & Rutland. Commencing this year with Charnwood district & street outreach to people rough sleeping across the whole counties of Leicestershire and Rutland.

The role requires occasional street outreach to people rough sleeping, alongside the Council housing outreach teams. This sometimes involves significant walking, working in inclement weather, and often in challenging environments and some limited out of hours working. Applicants must be prepared to undertake required duties as part of the HMHS.

Operating from various locations and some home working. The core working pattern is Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. Work may dictate some occasional out of hours working (enhancements paid). Due to agile working, designated bases are in operation whereby mileage is calculated from the nearest LPT premises to staffs home address when travelling to visits, so mileage rates will be payable from this designated location (reducing home to base mileage costs).
A salary sacrifice car scheme is currently in operation and although the role may require some public transport, applicants must be car drivers/owners (or have a suitable alternative & working towards full UK driving license).

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

The team is an active partner within the wider multi-agency statutory & voluntary sector homeless services within Leicester City, and as such the successful applicant would be expected to help facilitate this partnership, as well as assisting to develop the service and similar partnerships across the wider counties of Leicestershire & Rutland.

Going forward as the service develops across the wider counties of Leicestershire & Rutland the work will involve some working in County districts which will be developed around existing staff locations.

As a Support Time and Recovery (STR) Worker you will provide flexible community based support to people who are homeless & experiencing mental health difficulties in Leicester, helping to deliver the very best standards of care. The post holder will provide support and give time to service users in order to promote their Recovery, and help them to maintain their independence in the community.
Previous experience at band 2 (or equivalent) is essential. Relevant awareness and knowledge of homelessness, domestic violence & substance use issues and previous community experience are desirable.

Candidates will need to demonstrate an ability to provide care for people presenting with mental health difficulties within a variety of settings including day centres, hostels / temporary accommodation and general public settings (street outreach).
