Infinitek is currently hiring on behalf of a top-tier UK law firm in Leeds City Centre. The firm is looking for a skilled Costs Lawyer / Law Costs Draftsman to join their award-winning team, working across a diverse range of cost matters.
In this role, you will manage a varied caseload including claimant clinical negligence, personal injury, inquests, professional negligence, historic abuse claims, and some housing disrepair matters. You will work closely with solicitors and clients to prepare bills of costs, draft points of dispute, negotiate settlements, and provide advice on cost-related issues.
The successful candidate will be supported by administrative staff, enabling you to focus on drafting, negotiating, and providing technical expertise. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a team recognised for its high-quality work and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities of Costs Lawyer:
Draft traditional and Precedent S bills of costs and related documentation.
Prepare points of dispute and replies.
Analyse costs offers and advise clients or colleagues on next steps.
Negotiate settlements where appropriate.
Manage a varied workload efficiently, meeting deadlines and prioritising tasks.
Liaise professionally with clients, solicitors, and other legal professionals.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience as a Costs Lawyer or Law Costs Draftsman.
Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn.
Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and case management software.
